What’s to see in Poland

So you’re finally going to the heart of Europe? A wise decision, indeed. There’s so much to see, that we could write a book about it, but here we’ll just list a couple of thing you definitely shouldn’t miss.

You’ll probably want to start your trip in Warsaw, and we agree this is a good idea. The capital city of Poland provides more than enough places worth seeing. The most recognizable building in the city – Palace of Science and Culture – is going to be one of those places you’ll remember for a long time. See the Royal Baths Park and Palace, visit polish Parliament, see the Old Town, and try traditional Polish food in one of countless restaurants. And then continue your trip.

If you plan to go south, visit Wroclaw nad Krakow – two most beautiful Polish cities, when you can see, touch and breath history. Centuries-old castles, town buildings, bridges, churches; numerous museums, parks, pubs and other places of entertainment will impress you. If you’d rather go north, though, you can spend some time at the beach. Swim in the waters of Baltic Sea and see wonderful port towns. Visit such cities as Gdynia or Gdansk, relax and party all day and night.

Poland is interesting because of diversity. When you finish you stay near the sea, you can go and climb Polish mountains. See breathtaking vistas and visit fairy tale-like, centuries-old small towns. If you’re not sure whether you prefer the sea of the mountains, you can choose something in the middle – and spend your vacation in the lake region.

That’s only a tiny part of places worth seeing. If you decide to spend your holiday in Poland, you won’t be disappointed. It’s beatiful, it’s friendly, it’s interesting, it’s not expensive – what else would a traveller want?

Top 3 things you should take when going abroad

It doesn’t matter if you’re going abroad to visit your family, to do some sightseeing or to party. There are three things you should absolutely take with yourself, so your trip doesn’t change into a terrible experience.

1. Savings for a rainy day

You can’t predict what’s going to happen even during the best-planned journey. That’s why you should have some extra money hidden in a safe spot – not in your wallet. How much?, you may ask. Well, at least much enough to pay for one night in a motel, for a meal and for another return ticket. Don’t trust your credit card – not because it may not work, but because you may lose it without even noticing it.

2. A pocket dictionary

English-speaking travellers often forget that not everyone in the world is able to communicate using their language. If you’re going abroad, take at least a pocket dictionary – it’ll help you to avoid unpleasant situations when you can’t express yourself well enough to be understood.

3. A list of important addresses and phone numers

That’s another thing we use to forget. What number should we dial if our travel companion breaks his leg? What our embassy’s address and phone number? Who should we call to check if we can change the date of the return flight? Think about all adresses and numers you’d need – and note them.

We wish you not having to use any of above items, but always have them with yourself when going abroad. Remember: during long and distant travels foresight is more important than anything else.

Places to see before you die

How should a traveller choose most important places to see before death? Is relying on Internet rankings the right way to plan travels of your life? Honestly, we don’t think so, but we can suggest you a few spots, and you can consider visiting them.

It all depends on what you find really attractive. Would you like to visit most obvious locations, like pyramids or Eiffel’s Tower, or rather see something that relatively few people know about or have seen before you? If you’re interested in what’s unique and not well-known, this is a list that may interest you. If you’re looking for “the greatest architectural wonders” – we recommend one of hundreds articles you can easily find on the Web.

5. Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Canada

A place where for thousands of years Native Americans killed bisons, chasing them off the cliff. It’s one of a few “jumps” in North America, but – arguably – the most beautiful of them all.

4. Mount Roraima, Venezuela

This unusual mountain’s peak is surrounded by 400-metre-tall, very steep cliffs on all sides, which make it one of the most strange-looking places on the planet.

See it yourself.

3. Chocolate Hills, Philippines

When you see Chocolate Hills, it’s like you’ve suddenly jumped into a fairy tale. Green hills that turn brown in the dry season may look like man-made, but be sure they’re 100% natural, and 100% unique.

2. Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

When you visit Salar de Uyuni – the largest salt flat in the world – you’ll feel like you’ve travelled to another planet. Unusual rock formations, colors that may seem unnatural – you’ll see that and much more.

1. Socotra, Republic of Yemen

Speaking of other planets, you definitely should see Socotra, the largest island of a small archipelago in the Indian Ocean. This “planet” is not only strange-looking, but also very alive.

See it for yourself, as there are no words that could describe it.

Uluru: An Absolute Must-See

If you ever want to go to Australia, make sure to add seeing Uluru with your own eyes into your travel plans.

It’s an unique, overwhelming view: a seemingly out-of-place rock formation in the middle of a plain land. If you look at it in the middle of the day, it’s quite interesting, but if you wait until dusk – it’s simply amazing.

The rock appears to change it’s colour at sunset – it becomes red, and for a while it seems to glow. But if you’re lucky enough to see it when it rains (and rain’s not common in this part of Australia), you’ll see Uluru, known also as Ayers Rock, becoming silver.

So, is Uluru some otherworldly projection? No, it’s an inselberg – the only remnant of a mountaing range from very distant past. It’s made mostly of sandstone called arkose, and located in possum and bat territory. The word “Uluru” itself was conceived by local Pitjantjatjara people, but – disappointingly – has no meaning.

If you want to book hotel rooms as near Uluru as possible, visit our site – you’ll find all available hotels in Australia at best prices.

Most expensive hotel room EVER

How much would you pay for a night in a hotel room? If you say less than $53,000, you probably won’t be interested in staying in President Wilson Hotel.

Located in Geneva, Switzerland President Wilson Hotel is THE most expensive hotel in the world. You’d need $53,000 to rent a room for a standard 21-hour stay, which means that one hour would cost you over $2200. What would you get for that amount of money?

You’d stay in the Royal Penthouse Suite, having literally whole top floor of the building at your disposal. You’d reach it by your private elevator. If you were sleepy, you’d use one of four bedrooms; tomorrow morning you’d gaze at magnificent Lake Geneva. There’d be six bathrooms you could use. If you wanted to bring some friends to dinner, that wouldn’t be a problem. 26 people can dine in the suite’s dining room. After the meal, you’d entertain yourself playing billiards or reading one of hundreds of books available in your private library. Would you feel safe? Bulletproof windows and some of the best security guards in the world would help you relax.

Is it all worth $53,000 per night? Well, you have to answer this question yourself.

Going abroad: Airplane or bus?

Some travellers – those of the rather lazy kind – wouldn’t go abroad if they’d have to travel by bus. Why should they be open to other solutions?

Airplane is regarded as the most convenient of all means of transportation. It’s reputation, however, is not entirely accordant with the truth. Although planes are faster than their ground competitors, it’s easy to forget about long and annoying boarding procedures eternally bound to air travel. Plus, going to the airport can become a long and difficult journey itself. And after all that – you still have to wait for you luggage.

So, wouldn’t you like to make thing easier by choosing buses?

First of all, it’s much more convenient to travel that way – you’re not a potential terrorist in eyes of the bus station crew, so you don’t have to put up with all those security measures that make boarding a slow, boring process. You just come aboard and go – that’s all. Besides, you have a great opportunity to at least take a glance at places you travel by. The trip is much more interesting.

So, is bus better than airplane? Under some circumstances – yes, much better. It’s all a matter of your preferences. Remember, however, that you won’t know what you like, unless you try it first.

China’s new invention for travellers: 3D Fast Bus

Believe it or not, but Chinese have found a solution to traffic jams. They’ve conceived a bus that’ll never get stuck among other vehicles, because… it’ll drive OVER them!

3D Fast Bus is a vehicle with floor is situated ca. 3 meters above the ground. All the traffic goes under passengers’ shoes, because there’s hollow space between bus’s deck and the road. The vehicle is supported by narrow, high columns moving on rail tracks.

It’s a clever and thoughtful solution, although we’re not completely sure it’s going to work. The vehicle is quite huge and rigid, and it looks like drivers could experience problems trying to go underneath it while 3D Fast Bus is starting to turn. Nonetheless, we hope Chinese will succeed.
